About Emmanuel
Emmanuel Canadian Reformed Church is a vibrant church serving Guelph, Rockwood, and the surrounding communities. We were initially established in 1974. We are a member church of the Canadian Reformed Churches, a federation of over seventy churches spread across Canada.
We are a local expression of the Christ’s church and are excited to serve in our community. God is doing incredible things through the power of his gospel! We are committed to reaching out to our community to make Jesus known, and to be a community where committed Christians can gather together to worship, learn the truths of scripture, and be encouraged in living faithful lives of service to Him.
Our Pastors
Pastor Tyler Vandergaag
Pastor Tyler Vandergaag
Serving as lead pastor at Emmanuel, he leads our Sunday worship and weekly youth catechism teachings. He is a graduate of the Canadian Reformed Theological Seminary in Hamilton with a Masters in Divinity in 2014. He first served as pastor in Taber, Alberta. In 2023, he and his wife Keri as well as their 6 children joined us at Emmanuel. When Pastor Tyler is not in the study, he likely can be found paddling at Rockwood Conservation Area or shooting pucks with his children on the outdoor rink.
Pastor Peter Feenstra
Pastor Peter Feenstra
He commenced his ministry at Emmanuel in 1986 following his graduation from the Master of Divinity program at the Canadian Reformed Theological Seminary in Hamilton. After leaving Emmanuel and serving in other congregations, he returned to Guelph in 2015. Retired in 2020, our beloved pastor and his wife Jeanette continue serve the Christian community and the church. From time to time he can still be found on our pulpit, bringing the word. He is author to several books, namely: Unspeakable Comfort: A Commentary on the Canons of Dort; The Glorious Work of Home Visits; Come Let Us Worship the LORD; You Only; and Unseen Footprints.
